Beyond Kinsale – A One Day Adventure
Posted on by beyond26
Kinsale in West Cork is one of Ireland’s most beautiful coastal towns. Only a half hour from Cork City, Kinsale is as picturesque as it is fun, and it is at the southern tip of Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. It is one of Ireland’s most beautiful tourist locations and it forms part of our 8 Day Adventure Tour.
On Sunday last, the Beyond the Glass crew took advantage of the glorious Irish weather and decided to undertake a 1-day adventure tour on foot and on bike around Kinsale at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way.
We started with an alfresco lunch in one of Kinsale’s beautiful restaurants before getting up on the bike and cycling along the marina on the coastal road towards Castlepark beach. We took a short break at Castlepark beach where tourists and locals alike were soaking up the sun. A short cycle from there had us in Sandycove, we had a cooling swim in the clear blue Ocean before getting back on the saddle and, in keeping with the ethos of Beyond The Glass Adventure Tours, we turned off the beaten track and onto the quiet country road of the Ardkilly ridge, thus avoiding the heavy traffic heading to the big open sandy beaches of Garrettstown and Garrylucas or maybe the town of Clonakility.
As we cycled towards the Old Head of Kinsale we got timely relief from the Sun in the shade of some majestic Scots Pines that lined the road. We were greeted by the scent of Ferns, Foxglove, Fuchsia; which also added colour to an already colourful day. Then back into Kinsale giving us a total of 25.82 Km clocked up. All in all a great Beyond the Glass activity tour topped off with Pint of Guinness in the Armada Bar.
