Adventure on the Northern stretches of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Explore the Counties Mayo, Sligo, Donegal and Derry. Discover Ireland’s dramatic landscapes, visit ancient sites, and towns alive with culture, music and stories.
Day 1 - : The adventure tour begins in Dublin from where you will travel west to meet the Wild Atlantic Way in county Mayo. Today’s activity is a cycle on the Great western greenway. This is a beautiful cycle with excellent views along the route and it is a perfect opening to your Wild Atlantic Way Adventure. Tonight’s accommodation is in a Mayo Hotel.
Day 2 - Today you will experience the wild Mayo landscape. Visiting Ballycroy National Park, the Ceide Fields and Downpatrick head. In the afternoon you will hike along the North Mayo Cliffs and then travel North on the Mayo coastline. Tonight’s accommodation is in Sligo town. Sligo is a scenic town with views of Benbulben, Knocknarea, and the Wild Atlantic Way. It has a lively feel with a choice of excellent bars and restaurants.
Day 3 - Explore the wonderful Sligo landscape and spend minimal time in the tour bus. There is a cycle along the Sligo coastline and a hike to remember on Knocknarea. During the hike and cycle you will discover the real magic and beauty of Sligo. Tonight the accommodation is again in Sligo. Here you can relax and unwind with a well-earned pint of Guinness.
Day 4 - Today you will get a real sense of this region’s boundless energy and wild beauty. On we will stop at the grave of one of Ireland’s most famous poets W.B Yeats. The tour then continues with a a beautiful drive to Donegal. In Donegal we visit the Slieve league cliffs for an invigorating hike. After lunch the tours travels North to wild beaches and beautiful landscapes. Tonight’s accommodation is in a Donegal hotel
Day 5 - The tour travels through Donegal to Irelands most Northerly National Park, Glenveagh National Park. Here we enjoy a hike in some of Irelands wildest landscapes. We will now be near the northern tip of the wild Atlantic Way. After lunch the tour will cross into Northern Ireland where we visit Derry City. Derry is one of Irelands hidden gems, here you will get to explore the 500-year-old Derry walls and see the famous derry murals. Tonight’s accommodation is in a local Bed and Breakfast.
Day 6 - On the final day of the tour, there is still lots of adventure. Firstly, you will visit the spectacular Marble arches, a limestone cave system in County Fermanagh. The final hike on the tour is appropriately names the stair way to heaven. The tour returns to Dublin.
